So, I am still looking for a serious contender for the wellknown GoPro, i think i have found it !

This Xiaomi Yi action cam is really impressive, specialy if you look at the price !

there's now dozens of gopro wannabes out on the market. Many one shot wonders, others might have good pedigree but still ignored.

Seriously if I needed an extra cheap cam to boost existing gopro fleet, I think I'd buy the GoPro Hero basemodel... rather than taking risk on an(other) unknown untested device.

That said, the GoPro's tough case is getting a real PITA (leaks, distorted sound/video, steaming up, overheating camera etc), there's now neater solutions for underwater filming elsewhere these days.

I have a Sony action cam, great piece of kit
yeah I would've thought the Sonys would do well when they came out, but nope ppl still going GoPro

played with a few BiTD, best was Oregon Scientific's bulletshaped cams before GoPro got serious into the helmetcam market

for RC use... I'd be liking closely at DJI... before long they'll have a tiny gimbal mount & HD cam small enough to mount inside your sedan cabin Smile basically just grab a Phantom & lop off the flying parts, half the size.
