Hey guys let me introduce you to John, my Fabricator, Builder, and shop Foreman. He mostly works with aluminum, but also builds with various plastics and sheet steel. He tends to be handy with various saws, and tubing benders. But he is kinda messy and I am always cleaning up after him.
So John in my shop...[Image: IMG_20140504_103926_zpsudrtgpkg.jpg]
I didn't like the rear of the stock Chevy chassis so John is removing it...

To replace that cruddy stock rear we are building a tubular rear end. Everything is hand bent and brazed together. The rear end coming off.[Image: IMG_20140504_103646_zpsfk1lklad.jpg]

The start of the rear tubing...

Thank you foku5 and L3gTxDomo. Going to try to keep this one interesting, and fun.

I really didn't like the bed on this funky body. It is supposed to be really light and strong. And from what I can tell it is lighter than fiberglass. From what I have read these bodies are a molded plastic, poly something, I will look up exactly what it is later.

I told John to cut the bed out... Must be nice to be built like a wrestler:^^:.
Here he is finishing the last cut.
And pulling the piece out.

Next is to bolt the chassis rails on...

And then lower the body onto the chassis to see how everything lines up.

[b][i]SUCCESS!

Next John is going to build some ladder bars, and a panhard for the rear.

Thanks for watching.

John didn't get as much done as I wanted. He did get the ladder bars made and installed.

I am not happy with John's work back here, but overall the truck is looking good.[Image: IMG_20140504_214500_zpsvnzmaryr.jpg]

How wide is that rear diff? I have a 64 impala from pegasus hobbie and want to build a custom chassis as close to the real thing.

The rear axle is 185mm tip to tip and 165ish hex to hex using Axial narrow hex's. I really like the Cco1 chassis though it does have some flaws. Like terrible steering and no pinion adjustability. I wish the rear diff was centered rather than offset.
