Awesome transformation! Looking forward to see the final result Smile
I love where this is going now!

I've started doing a similar build with an old RS4 chassis. http://afrorc.com/forums/topic/budget-rs4-sport-rwd/

First some minor cosmetic changes. I changed most of the stock screws on the chassis from whatever they were before, to hex screws. The screws which doesn't have machine threads is still left stock because I haven't found a hex replacement for these.

I swapped the stock orange aluminum parts, with the older stock purple Sprint parts. This was just to get a better color match with the pink D3 parts.

Swapped the stock main/sub chassis mount with one from GPM, same reason as above. Threads fit unexpectedly well, even when not using GPM screws.

Onto the D3 front conversion:

Stripped everything except the the lower arms.

Started with the steering swipers. Had to space it up a bit at the bottom to clear the lower arm. Used a bearing as spacer below the D3 steering post.

From there it was on to fitting the c-hubs.

They just had to be shimmed out a bit to remove slop.

When mounting the steering knuckles, I noticed that they didn't have much room for camber adjustment.

[Image: 14802246808_cfd198b678_b.jpg]

This was caused by the length of the CVDs, but it was easy to solve by removing the rubber o-rings in the one-way diff.

This is how far I came with the conversion.

Then I got the FXX-D VIP. :=S:

The Sprint was unfortunate to be put on the shelf in the shadow of the excitement I had for the newly arrived RWD toy.

While driving the FXX-D for some months now, not thinking much about the Sprint, I've now gotten some new ideas for it. The re-build has started, and I'm not that far away from finishing it up. When done I will update the list in the first post of the thread, along with documenting this phase of the build. Stay tuned!
