good deal?

i've been looking for a way to get into drifting without spending what i spend on my crawlers. i found this and it looks to be fully upgraded so all i would need is a body and electronics. would it be a good deal? looking at d4 because it can be 50/50, cs, or rwd and i'm not sure which i like because i've only used 50/50.

personally i wouldn't go for that one because its a clone chassis, id get a genuine from rcmart's ebay store
Sakura D3: RWD
That's definitely a Chinese knockoff that'll probably cost you more money in the end. A D4 is a good choice but know a RWD conversion to CS,50/50 takes some $/parts/time, not as turn-key as you might think. Another option to consider... Yokomo Drift Package (with conversions) can also be CS or RWD. There are US based purchase options, always a suggestion of mine. Depending on where you're located a LHS might help ya out or hit my local track/shop up http://www.supergdrift.com they're super helpful.
thanks for the replies! i didn't even see that was rwd instead of awd. i'm from crawlers so i'm used to building rigs out of aftermarket parts without ever buying stock parts in the first place so i figured that one would be a good bet. they have one that comes as awd for 170.. seems like all the sakura are made in china anyways so why would it cost me more in the end to get one built out of hop ups? i don't like buying something twice and i want a full option rig. thanks for the feedback

how are these for electronics? i will be running on pavement/concrete mostly with some carpet but not often. polished concrete like in a warehouse/mechanic shop most often. i like to go fast and overpower my stuff. would it be better on a 2s though? i like these 3s batteries because i run them in my crawler so i just buy a bunch and use them between both rigs

Again that is a knock off D4 that will more than likely give you more issues then a real D4 from 3 racing

this is a real D4 from 3Racing

This is a 10.5 turn combo that i used to run when i first began, its also sensored and the esc comes with a built in BEC

id say your battery is okay, but might be short on run times

Edit: i actually still use this motor in my RWD D3

True, both are "from" China but there's a vast difference between original parts/materials/manufacturing and someone who steals an idea then tries to replicate it as cheaply a possible. Not a practice I support, but that's just me.

Another online retailer that stocks the 3Racing Sakura D4 is TQRCRacing out of California if you don't way to shop overseas, http://www.tqrcracing.com. They have both the RWD and AWS chassis in stock (at the time of this post). I've bought plenty of Tamiya parts from them when I was getting into TCS racing.

The HobbyWing package is a pretty good deal and higher-end models of ESC from HobbyWing are used as the base of some Yokomo ESCs. Make sure you set up the proper gear ratio for your motor. I would aim for a FDR of 6.5 or 7 for the 10.5t motor.

As for why is one "made in China" different from another "made in China," there are other factors other than location of manufacturing that goes into cost, such as material quality and final product quality control. Additionally, some of these upgrades/hop ups aren't really needed and just add additional weight, which may be detrimental to your style of driving and track surface.

thanks again for the replies. what upgrades are absolutely necessary? i want a carbon fiber chassis for cool factor no matter what but what else is should i pick up?
and im ok with short runtimes if it means a lighweight car. i can swap the battery more often and not have to carry a brick around.. i get an hour out of those batteries in my custom wraith crawler (not at all a wraith anymore lol)
would i be better off with a mst or are they more bling than anything? im trying to keep this under 350 so since i already have and love castle stuff i can throw in a 3800kv and sct esc i have instead of buying one new. is that servo good or will it be too much for the car? i figured 0.032 60* is a great speed and with 97 oz of torque that would be enough for drifting?
when it comes to made in china and made in china i figured the tolerances would be meh either way so excuse me wanting to buy the clone but what do you mean it will cost me more in the long run? when it comes to crawlers if you buy american parts you get top quality but it seems all the "good" drift cars are chinese?
anyways i will pick up an origional chassis not clone i guess and upgrade the necessary places as i find them. i may use a smaller 2pole motor if the 3800 4pole is oo much for the truck. i got to drive a drifter the other day and it had a 4600kv castle 4pole and it was pretty fun. that was on a carpet track.

also if i were to want to pick up a cheap drifter for a 4 yr old which would be the best? im assuming another of whatever i got so when i upgrade he can have the old parts as spares?

again thank you everyone im very new to rc drifting (:
which do i need for a one way from diff?
