nice setup and good run tooSmile
btw what tires are you using? it looks like you drift on polished concrete?

Thanks yeah the runs are feeling better in the XRAY over the TA-04. I think the biggest thing is my steering has more lock, and the steering is staying very close parallel. The TA-04 did not have as much work into the steering.

The surface in the video is very close to fully polished. There are a couple rough patches I need to take care of. So far I seem to be running the same tires everywhere.

As far as tires. I am currently using Raikou DP50sb on the front. I am using these because they are more narrow than standard drift tires. This gives me some extra clearance between the shocks and tires. Also they are a nice low grip tire so they can slide sideways a bit if the car is angled a little past the steering angle. In the rear I am running HPI T-drifts. The T-Drifts gives me a little x-tra grip to get up to speed quicker and to be more stable in the slides. The xray seems to be quicker with the same tire setup.

I think the XRay is faster mainly due to the more parallel steering. When you have toe in or out the front tires will act as a brake. This does 2 things it slows the car down, and makes the rear want to come around the front more. So I would say if your trying RWD focus as much as you can on the steering system.

I agree, having too much toe will cause friction or braking at your front. Toe out gain for switchbacks is good but if you want to maintain angle without the car wanting to switchback, then having it parallel is the way to go.

Nice run! How goes it when you have the shell on?

No camera guy ey? hehehe!

Holy steering! That is awesome! You just inspired me to do a RWD drifter project this winter.
yeah this rcchassis is runnning reallywell whats the speed compared to cs chassis

Right now its running about the same speed as cs on raikous. Cs can still be a litttle faster. I'm still looking for the best rear tire!

yeah i know there testing a tire similar to the t drift compound hopefully itworks out
Ok its been awhile since I updated anything on this build or gave detailed pictures of my chassis. This was a post I did on Facebook just reposted here.

Hi justsidewayz here with some pictures of the current state of my X-Ray T2 RWD machine. Its performing very well for me. It might not have the looks of a high end purpose built rwd machine, but its working very well. I don't have many other rwd drivers to drift with yet so speed and keeping up with our cs guys is important to me. Our group is not fast drifters so it was pretty easy to get close to the same speed. I have about 100 grams on the rear shock tower for added traction, and to smooth out twitchy transitions. I am not running any weight on the front, because it always seems to slow down the car, and delay the response of the front end. Right now I am running 350cst yokomo shock oil in the front. I am using 4 hole damper setup in the front shocks, with stock Tamiya VDF springs. In the rear I am using 200cst fluid, with Drift Stage D-Like MSF springs. I vary the dampers rate by using Xrays adjustable dampers. If I see the chassis is weight shifting too much or too quickly I drop a hole on the internal damper piston. This slows down the shift and lets the weight be more controllable. Really it depends on the side bite I'm getting from the surface. The gyro gain runs between 35% to 60% depending on surface and current setup. Basically if I get any gyro wheel wobble I just lower the gain. My tire chioce seems to match cs and 5050 cars running the standard Raikou Drift tire compound. I am currently running Raikou DP40 in the front, and Raikou DXPE in the rear. It has been a lot of fun getting into rwd, only thing that was a major headache for me was getting a steering system that met my needs. The WUN FR-D and the MST FXX makes that part much easier from what I see. Any questions about my setup feel free to ask.
