R2 Evo 9 Voltex Widebody Project (Pic Heavy)

8 Replies, 6838 Views

Just finished this small project today. Haven't done an evo or widebody yet and saw the r2 evo for $20-30 so I thought I'd try it.

I took some pictures through the painting process.

Cut everything out for paint, separated parts by color they were gonna be painted.

Went with the Spazstix Orange/Purple/Teal, always fun using these since you can't really tell what you covered

Turns out I didn't wait long enough for the paint to fully cure before attaching the widebody. The goo turned the paint black and it didn't look too good. Paint was also cracking off, I may have prepped the body wrong or something. I remember putting on light coats.

I loved the color but I wanted to redo it. I bought the R2 rip off decals from a local automotive tuning shop (Touge Factory) here in IL to use. They did a time attack Evo 9 which I was aiming for now.

and this is how mine came out. I would need to make a custom front/rear diffuser/TE37s/blacked out headlights and etc to make an exact but I'm happy with it.
