Full Version: R2 Evo 9 Voltex Widebody Project (Pic Heavy)

Just finished this small project today. Haven't done an evo or widebody yet and saw the r2 evo for $20-30 so I thought I'd try it.

I took some pictures through the painting process.

Cut everything out for paint, separated parts by color they were gonna be painted.

Turns out I didn't wait long enough for the paint to fully cure before attaching the widebody. The goo turned the paint black and it didn't look too good. Paint was also cracking off, I may have prepped the body wrong or something. I remember putting on light coats.

I loved the color but I wanted to redo it. I bought the R2 rip off decals from a local automotive tuning shop (Touge Factory) here in IL to use. They did a time attack Evo 9 which I was aiming for now.

and this is how mine came out. I would need to make a custom front/rear diffuser/TE37s/blacked out headlights and etc to make an exact but I'm happy with it.

Really like this shell! Hard to believe this is your first wide body.
Looks sweet! Does anyone know what wheels those are? the 7-spoke ones. I've looked but i can't find them anywhere
