  How to maintain the Lipo battery?

What's a lipo battery? Lipo battery, its full name is lithium polymer battery, people also called Li-po battery, or more correctly lithium-ion polymer battery (abbreviated as LiPo, LIP, Li-poly and others). Lipo is a rechargeable battery of lithium-ion technology using a polymer electrolyte instead of a liquid one. High conductivity semisolid polymers form this electrolyte. These lipo batteries provide a higher specific energy than other lithium-battery types. It is a newer type of battery now used in many consumer electronics devices, such as drone lipo battery, car lipo battery and Airplane battery. They have been gaining in popularity in the radio control industry over the last few years, and are now the most popular choice for anyone looking for long run times and high power. 

There are some tips about How to maintain the Lipo battery?

Before Charge

  • Please read the charger instruction book before charging.

  • Always check the voltage of Batteries before each charge session in order to ensure they are at or above the minimum safe starting voltage. If starting voltage is below recommended levels then Batteries have been over discharged or have experienced a failure and should NOT be charged.

  • Always check the battery before charging for any type of damage. Check the battery packaging, wires and connectors for defects, which may cause a short circuit and eventual battery failure.

  • Make sure you are using charge leads which are compatible with the battery connectors.

  • User should check the polarity of the battery cable and charger lead carefully before the connection to avoid any short circuit.

  • Always verify the charger is in good condition. A poor quality charger can be dangerous.

  • It is solely your responsibility to assure that the charger you use works properly. Always monitor the charging process to assure batteries are being charged properly. Failure to do so may result in a fire.
  • Only use charger designed for lithium polymer/Lion battery. Do not use a NIMH/ NICD/ LIFEPO4/ LEAD ACID charger. If the charger can support different battery types. Be absolutely sure to select the Lithium polymer (Lipo) mode on the charger. Failure to do so may cause a fire, which may result in personal injury and property damage.

  • User should Always charge Batteries in an open area away from flammable materials, liquids and surfaces.

  • Never charge Batteries inside of the model.

  • Never charge batteries below freezing (0°C, 32°F)

  • Never charge Batteries that are hot to the touch (above 100° F). DO NOT handle Batteries until they are cool.

  • User should Always set the charger to the proper cell count and/or voltage listed on Batteries’ labels.

  • User should Always set the charger to the amp charge rate as listed on Batteries’ labels.

  • The charger should never be set to charge Batteries at a rate greater than 1C (One (1) times the capacity of Batteries in amp hours) unless another C rate is specified in the manufacturer’s product documentation or the rate is preset as part of a specific battery and charger combination. DO NOT alter the charge rate once charging has begun.

  • Never overcharge Batteries beyond the capacity listed on Batteries’ labels.

  • Never overcharge batteries over their rated maximal voltage (4.2V/cell for LiPo).

  • It must choose series charging if two or more battery packs be connected in series for using.

  • Use suitable and good quality chargers, please don’t use cheap and low quality chargers, use the professional Lithium polymer charger to charge the Gens ace & Tattu battery. When charging, please make sure the surroundings is clean, without sundries around. Don’t charge without monitoring. Using lipo sack is suggested when charging to ensure the charging safety. Stop charging timely when the battery is fully charged. Do not connect the charger and the battery for a long time when the battery is fully charged. We will not be responsible for any personal in jury and property lost or any kind accident that caused by improper charging.
  • Never discharge Batteries at amperage rates higher than specified on Batteries’ labels.

  • Never allow the temperature of Batteries to exceed 140°F during discharge. Adequate cooling for Batteries is required, especially when discharging at or near maximum rates.

  • Never discharge Batteries to voltage below which they are rated by the manufacturer when measured under load(connected to the vehicle or a charger capable of discharge). Batteries discharged to a voltage lower than the lowest approved voltage may be damaged, resulting in loss of performance and potential fire when Batteries are charged.

  • Never discharge battery to a level below 3V per cell under load. For Tattu series batteries which are used for Unmanned Aircraft System, The recommended cut off voltage is 3.5V per cell.

  • Never leave battery unattended during the discharging process. During the discharging process, user should monitor the process constantly and react to potential problem that may occur.

  • In case of emergency, discontinue the process immediately, disconnect the battery, place it in a safe area, and observe it for approximately one hour. This may cause the battery to leak and the reaction with air may cause the chemicals to ignite, resulting in a fire. A safe area should be outside of any building or vehicle and away from any combustible materials. A battery can still ignite even after one hour.

  • User need to check the conditions of the battery before use it or discharge it. Stop using it if user found the cells are not balanced or cells are puffing or weeping.
Lipo Battery Storage:
  • Do not directly connect the terminals with metal objects. This will short-circuit Batteries, resulting in heat and electrical discharge.

  • Never store loose Batteries together, the Batteries’ terminals may contact one another causing a short circuit.

  • Never storage Batteries to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight. The battery should be stored within -10℃ ~ 45℃ range environmental condition. If the battery has to be stored for a long time (Over 3 months), the environmental condition should be: Temperature: 23±5℃, Humidity: 65±20%RH, The voltage for a long time storage should be 3.6V~3.9V range per cell.

  • Always disconnect Batteries when not in use and store Batteries in a non-conductive and fireproof container.

  • Never alter, puncture or impact Batteries or related components.

Warning YG-302 GYRO

i have a yokomo yg-302 gyro in my yd-2 it chatters and locks up then it reboots ... the servo is a OMG d22-13s ....the gyro was set to digital .......the gyro works fine on analog servos ... help anyone!!!!

Hello drifters, I need some advice on rc cars.

I haven't purchased a car yet as I am just looking into this hobby.
I'd like to know how often you have to replace parts and maintain an rc car.
And also I would like any suggestions on a first car, preferably like a 1/10 or something slightly smaller. It needs to be $150 or less and RTR out of box.

Hey people, my name is Mark, and I'm from Ireland. Got into rc drifting 9 or 10 years ago, but between one thing and another I lost touch with the hobby. Have a TT01 and MR4TC SD from back then gathering dust on a shelf, but would love to get back into it now. So hopefully I'll get some pointers or advice from you all, and won't wreck your head too much with questions, as I'm sure a lot has changed since I was last involved in this (rwd wasn't really a thing the last time around)

  New 4wd build suggestions

Hey all,

New to the drift scene, I've got an HPI E10 that I picked up and am the second owner of it.  I've been looking into getting a new build going but not too sure which 4wd chassis to go with. My budget is kind of tight, so im looking to keep the chassis buy under $200 USD

I've looked at the Tamiya TT-02D but it looks like it's gonna be hard to track down a new kit. Also looking at the 3racing sakura d4.

If anyone has ideas and possible links, it would be greatly appreciated.

  MST XXX-D RTR - broken knuckle :(

Hey everyone, 

New here, just picked up a XXX-D RTR from Hobbybest on Ebay, and very happy with the car.
Today, I let my friend have a go at it and he owns a Redcat, so he knows a little bit of drifting.

Long story short, he slid into a curb slamming the right rear wheel breaking the knuckle 
attached to the lower control arm. So here I am looking for some advice.

I looked at the options booklet and found a aluminum replacement Part# 210354. I'm having a hard time finding red aluminum parts for this chassis
I was wondering if anyone here knows if knuckles from the FXX will work with the XXX-D even though part number is different (820111.) 

RCMART states for 210354 works with FXX, FXX HT / 820111 works for FXX. Parts look identical.
On MST's website, 210354 is 'for' RRX, FMX, FSX, FXX, XXX. 820111 is 'for' RRX, RMX, FMX, FSX, FXX, XXX.

Please help!

Hey peeps. I have a Eagle TT02 RWD chassis enroute' and have a couple of questions for any other TT02 RWD owners out there

1. Battery postition,has anyone played round with saddle packs? and stick pack position, longitudinal or horizontal?

2. What is the deal with the spur gear size? I see it is 48p but what sort of spur gear is used? Going by the pictures on the web the spur looks quite wide in comparison to touring car spurs which are quite narrow traditionally

3. Can standard size servos fit in the dock or only low profile servo's?

Any light shed on these questions is much appreciated

I wanted to ask a question to the community I have the Sanwa vortex type d and because I changed position on the motor when I hit the throttle The coach instead of going ahead goes back and I would like to tell me if anyone knows how to reverse the motor that is to say throttle and go ahead I tried to change the position of the cables but it does not work...... Thanks

  Sprint 2 supra build

Building up a sprint 2, currently working on a supra body. 

Gpm suspension set with modified steering knucks for more angle and the rear hubs reversed for 3 drgree toe out, yr shocks, tet super rims. Bulk heads, shock towers and upper and lower decks are next.

I'm kinda new to drifting, I'm planning to get a chassis and I really don't know which would I get , would it be a RWD or a AWD, which among this 2 would be budget friendly for someone who is starting with the hobby and Is it ok to use a 9 channel RC transmitter  used for RC Airplanes drifting to accomodate the add ons later on.

Finally I would want to ask a question that I have been wondering for quite sometime since I started this new hobby and craft , Why is it that most competition drifters or someone who has been in the hobby for quite sometime, How come I seldom see some competition RC hatchback body shells? Everything I saw were either long squarish RC bodies or not any RC body that has a long trunk style of RC body shell.

I just want to know since Im just starting with the hobby, Thanks guys  ^^

Here are a few pictures of my Re-R Hybrid and all the phases it went through. 
First the re-anodizing, with carb d deck and tailslider rack. Then went to carb-d rack, then switched from Airia and BS motor to Agile and Xarvis ESC.

Image New to rc. Picked a drifter as my first

Hey yall just got into the rc game.  Picked up a sprint 2 drift 350z rtr. After 2 weeks alrdy completed steering angle mod and upgraded the magority of the ball cups to rpm hd cups. More coming to completed the job. Few tweeks to rid the steering slop. Universial dogbones ordered for thhe front as well.  Removed some of the god aweful graphics off the body added a wing and picked up some rubber tires on wheels amd painted blue for when i wanna have a lil speed run.

Hello all! My girl and I have been racing off road 2wd SC, mod 2wd buggy, 1/8 e buggy as our main classes for 6-7 years. Before that it was maybe a decade of mostly monster truck bashing. Along the way I purchased an exceed drift car, and a traxxas rally.

Recently we purchased a traxxas 4 tec 2.0 and a latrax sst to race a spec class at our local hobby shop with my son. Well that didn't work out so I decided to turn the 4 tec into a drift car and I stumbled upon this site. 

I found a brand new fxxd ifs, and a nice tc6 through rctech and swapped a couple short course trucks with a dude in Hawaii.

Cars as of now.

4 tec has 500k fluid in front diff stock in rear, some suspension tuning, a blue bird servo. Stock brushed system. Raikou tires, mst asjustable offset wheels. Does okay but the dogbones limit steering and camber. Pretty much the basher. 

Fxx d ifs has a close to stock setup, aside from 60 weight associated shock fluid in the front. Shorty pack all the way forward. Running a turnigy turbo 120 esc, trakpower 13.5, futaba digital hs metal gear servo, stock gyro. It has aluminum front upper arms and mst aluminum shocks. Team tetsujin adjustable offset wheels, eBay hard rubber tires, they are super heavy also. Absolute pleasure to drive!

Tc6 has an unknown suspension setup, extremely tight front diff, loose rear diff. Raikou tires on mst 5mm wheels. Turnigy turbo 120 esc, viper 9.5, savox 1257. Talk about fun!

Most surprising.. My sons latrax sst.. has a toro brushless system, stock servo and battery, aluminum rear cvd.. Putting on hard rubber drift tires made this thing a little drifting beast on our concrete garage floor which is where we drift them all!

I'm learning a lot here, thanks everyone! I'll be looking for another rwd drift chassis/gyro!

Would love to find some drifty things to do within a reasonable distance from cincinnati.

Hey everyone , 

Anyone notice that if you google :

- BEST RC DRIFT CARS 2016 OR 2017 , you find nothing but false articles that are in reality ads disguised as guides or articles or reviews, and the very few that are legit , have cars listed that even NOOBS wouldn't look at ?


If you go to Youtube , you can find hours of horrible videos on drifting , no titles , horrible music , no details or specs ; at the same time, in all of youtube , with everything that is being talked about or made from gaming vids to vids about kittens playing with strings to everything that is in and between , I can't for the life of me find one RC drift channel dedicated to a yearly show that does a yearly rundown of the years top releases , top cars , top RTRs ? 

I would classify the marketing strategy by the RC DRIFT giants to be pathetic , the worst in the world , in ANY industry .

Im currently working in the middle east , these people have more MONEY than any of us can count , there are giant malls with spaces for drift tracks in every city here , there are investors waiting for opportunities , they have money , but seldom have the brains to do anything with it, yet i have never once seen anything related to RC drifting here. There is 1 track outside of the city and no more than three stores in the city i work at and all of them have horrible products. 

Most kids i speak to here don't even know about RC drifting , and not because they are out synch , its the RC world experts and manufacturers who are out of Synch with the new generation, especially emerging markets in the middle east and Africa.

Where is HPI , they should rent out a public exhibition space in the middle of one of the biggest malls in the middle east and have a drift track display where newcomers can test cars , learn to drift or even take a beginners course. The interest it would generate would be extremely profitable for HPI , for example. I use HPI as a an example not because they are the best , but because they seem to have the brand image thing on LOCK !

Where is YOKOMO in the Middle East ? When was the last time YOKOMO sponsored a workshop for drifters in the Middle East , or set up a track at a local mall , open up a pop up store and sell drift cars till they run OUT !

It boggles my mind how ignorant the RC drift companies are when it comes to marketing and infiltrating emerging markets.

To understand the Middle East markets you must understand that everything here now works and grows off trends , these new generation of kids literally feed off each other. If one kid buys something , all the kids will want it , and while this is the norm everywhere else in the world , it seems more so here than ever. It seems kids just want to fit in and keep up with the outside world more than ever.

Anyways... by profession , this is what i do , so forgive my venting !

For now ill just stick to smaller goals for the RC drift community , can we at least start off with drift mission or someone doing an annual dedicated page , or link , or whatever to the 2017 TOP DRIFT CARS / CHASSIS OF THE YEAR AWARDS or something like that ? Is that too much to ask for from an entire community ? A simple , clear location everyone can revert to for information that is archived annually which clearly states the authors ratings for the years top rc drift cars / chassis , is that too much to ask for by DriftMission ? I'm a NOOB and id do it !

Additionally , if any of you go on youtube , you will see there are no channels dedicated to this subject , a couple of vids made to discuss the annual state of the RC DRIFT WORLD , NEW RELEASES , HOT ITEMS , ANNUAL REVIEW , BUDGET CHASSIS OF THE YEAR , BEST RTR , BEST INDOOR DRIFTER , BEST OUTDOOR DRIFTER , BEST TIRES , AND SO ON...This would get tons of hits , there is ad revenue to be made as well... Someone with experience in the RC WORLD should jump on this , how no one has done this until now is BEYOND my wildest understanding !

Sadly , I'm a noob in the RC world , otherwise id be all over these opportunities , Id be creating dedicated websites , awards shows , annual rankings , a youtube channel dedicated to new releases , reviews of past best chassis by year. Think of the free kits you'd be getting from sponsors.

In terms of marketing , I'd coordinate between the leading local malls ( which are huge in terms of open space ) here in the middle east and companies like HPI and YOKOMO and 3Racing and i'd bring them to a special event here in the middle east , I'd set up huge tracks in the malls open spaces and get the kids to try out dozens of drifters on open and safe tracks , i'd provide a workshop for adults and elite drifters... and by the end it of it all , i'd have HUGE line ups of rich Arab kids posted up at my HPI ( or whatever ) pop up stands at the malls begging to purchase the last of the RC drift cars we brought to sell. Bottom Line , id turn this industry upside down and inside out.... There wouldn't be a kid from Dubai to Jeddah to Cairo to Istanbul that wouldn't be begging his parents for a drift car ... all i would need is the proper coordination team , the exhibition space in select malls / locations and a few sponsors.

These people at HPI , MST,  3racing and YOKOMO can build a track , they can build a car .... but they have NO IDEA how to sell or market the product.

Pathetic people who don't know what opportunity they are wasting !

If anyone wants to debate my marketing points , first research the disposable incomes in this region and the incredible rates of under 18s in the demographic sectors of the mentioned markets , YOU WILL BE SHOCKED at the financial opportunities that are thrown away by RC drift makers by NOT targeting this customer base.

How's it goin everyone? I've had this brand new TC4 Club Racer laying around and finally decided to turn it into a beginner drift car. At some point I plan on purchasing a real Drift Kit but for now I'm hoping this will do. I have spare parts an figured I'd build a Frankenstein chassis. Specs are:

TC4 Club Racer 
GForce 21.5T motor ( Motor / ESC subject to change)
HPi SC15WP ESC ( pulled from E10 Drift ) 
Spektrum STX2 2.4 transmitter / receiver combo
Turnigy DriftSpec 303 servo
Turnigy 5000mAh 2S LiPo
72T spur / 22T pinion / 2.5 Internal Ratio / FR : 8.17 Ratio

Did a little work today an started getting everything together. Waiting for a shipment from hobbyking and I'll post more pics as progress is made. Still deciding to on what body to run and what wheel style to go with it. Any comments is appreciated

Currently researching the C.S ability on the MST XXX-D VIP , noticing it says the stock gera ratio is 1.3 , however you can fit C.S 2.02 ratio gears. 

Does this mean that the MST XXX-D VIP is classified as C.S car when it was initially released ? 

Noticed many have since then converted the MST XXX-D VIP into RWD , can you still keep the C.S gears once converted , is it still considered a C.S , if so , how will performance be affected ? ( Sorry for the confusion )

Just to confirm...The MST XXX-D VIP stock has nothing on the MST RMX S 2.0 , right ?

All bets in the RC world right now are on the RMX and the YOKO YD-2 , RIGHT ?
