  Traxxas drift conversion??

So I have a Traxxas Slash VXL (brushless 2wd) collecting dust and I was wondering if it was possible to use the motor, esc, servo, etc. and put it into a drift chassis and what chassis I should use. I'm looking for something cheap.

Hi all! I am planning on getting my first rwd kit and I am debating on which kit should I get, is the yd2 plus worth the money? And does it really come with a gyro as is? Or getting an ordinary yd2 is more practical. And also a separate gyro with it. I am currently doing drift comps too :)

Hello I'm getting into rc drifting after a long hiatus so I thought about asking if someone in their local track has a FMX-D and RMX 2.0S? Personally I think FMX-D weight is distributed better than RMX S 2.0 and that's prob the only reason I would see myself buying the FMX-D over the RMX S 2.0 but Im not that experienced nor I ever drove the both chassis. Can someone enlighten me on this topic?

  Yokomo YD-2 Building and YG-302 Gyro Set Up Tips

Hi Guys

I am totally new to this RWD and drift hobby but will be getting a Yokomo YD-2 car kit that comes with YG-302 gyro.

I understand that some of the building guides in the assembly manual may be a little different and also things that need to be cautious of and is not indicated in the manual.

Based on your experience in building a good YD-2 car with YG-302 gyro, are there any tips that I should build differently from the manual or be cautious of?  Is there any good website that provide step-by-step building tips, especially the gyro setting as I have never use a gyro before.

So I'm kind of new to drifting. I have an hpi e10 and an exceed madspeed . which one do yous think is a better car? I know they are both entry level .the hpi e10 is up graded it has aluminum arms ,main drive shaft , carriers , and shock towers, shocks, and motor mount.   Need a new drive belt for mystery car

I bought this car from a friend and he doesn't know what the model is. He said it's about 5-10 years old. My local hobby shops don't know where to find a belt and suggested I ask you guys. The inside of the tires say Tamiya.

The old belt dimensions are:
Length: 333mm
Width: 3mm
Teeth: 111

If anyone knows where to order a belt or what model this is, you'd be a great help to me!

I went to the Exceed web site and a lot of the parts don't have pictures so I can know what in trying to buy. Amazon and eBay have nothing. So.   Sprint 2 sakura steering mod

Hi guys,

I'm a complete noob so go easy, I did search but I couldn't really find a specific answer.

I watched afrorc's video on the steering mod ages ago and always wanted to try it so I finally got the parts the other day that he has listed on this page:


I was putting it together fine but I'm a lil confused as to what I'm meant to do now

  Sakura D4 CS vs MST MS-01D

Hey guys,

I'd just like some advice on my situation right now. I'm torn between the **BRUSHED** MST MS-01D RTR and the Sakura D4 CS. 
For the Sakura D4, I am putting these parts in:

FLYSKY FS-GT3B transmitter and receiver - I could also switch to a Spektrum one but no good deals have been found yet.

Savox SC-1258TG Super Speed Titanium Gear

Traxxas Velineon VXL-3S motor and ESC ripped off from my Slash VXL 

Body - 200mm or 190mm? 

All in all the Sakura D4 looks to be cheaper/same price w/ Spektrum Transmitter, however I do not want to paint the body, and I'm not sure it'll even outperform the MS-01D RTR.

  Smoke generators

Hi guys, I just received my Burnout Demon smoke generator, and I'm pleased with the amount of smoke it produces.  But, I drift indoors, and I know it it is a SMOKE generator, but I was counting it was based on vape burners.  Is there any others generators out there based on vape burners?

Have anyone use vegetable glycerin on any of this burners?

Hey everyone,
I'm not new to RC cars (bashing around with a Traxxas Slash 4x4 for some time) but to drifting. And like others I now have to decide on a chassis.
What I'm looking for ist a beginner friendly but also future proof chassis with some potential for upgrading. Good availability of replacement and tuning parts (in Europe) is also really important. Furthermore I'd prefer a roller since I got some electronics laying around and dont want to pay extra for something I dont need. And finally the price should be up to 150€.

Here're some chassis that I allready checked out:
TT02 (dont know what version yet)
Sakura D4 (again no idea if 4wd or 2wd)

The Tamiyas sure are cheaper and I've read that driveshafts are better than belts if you run outdoors. But to get them to the same level of adjustability as the D4 would require lots of tuning right?
If I'd choose one of the Tamiyas, what uprgades would be necessary?
Sry if my english is not perfect, but still hoping for some helpfull answers.

  Rc4wd Mojove body on drift car chassis

Well it's not much of a build yet since I won't be ordering the car for a few weeks, but I wanted to get some opinions on the build I'm planning for the d4.

This will be my first rwd drift car and hopefully the first drift car that I'll keep as a drift car for more than a month.

Anyways I was looking into the mst fxx-d ifs and the 3racing Sakura d4 rwd. After some research on here and online I've decided to go with the d4 obviously. Mostly because upgrades are cheaper and overall everything looks like it will be much easier to get here in the States vs the mst.

The build I'm planning on is to get the d4 rwd kit, aluminum ifs conversion (just because I get mesmerized by cantilever), active camber conversion, curved slide rack, and aluminum stock shocks. Electronics that I know of so far will be an airtronics 2 channel receiver (don't care about leds right now) and a savox low profile servo and some sensored brushless system.

It will get run on asphalt mostly, possibly on smooth concrete and occasional carpet as well.

Any suggestions on other parts to get?

  Old Yokomo chassis back from the dead

I got this thing way back in the day maybe 8-9 years ago. After i got my full scale rx7 back on the road I had a boost of motivation and remembered how fun this thing was. I took it out of storage and dusted it off, and after one trip to the local hobby store she was ripping again! I love this thing. My mind was blown once i realized how far RC drifting has become since I first built this thing. This body is definitely a missile now but I will continue to fix/run it even after i do my next body (d-like fd3s). I have new tires on order and my plan is to order the FCD 2.0 solid axle set for counter steer. (D-051) will this work in my car? Im still not sure if this is a type-B or not or what the differences even are. I am driving on smooth concrete and asphalt. I would like to possibly convert to RWD but as of now my budget only allows for minor changes here and there. Im happy to join the forum and continue too show my progress with pics and video.

Gear Poverty Drifter - Budget USA TT02 Build

After lurking here for awhile, I decided to finally register here so I could start a thread on this TT02.
Let me start out by saying, that yes, I know the TT02, let alone the standard, non "S" model, is not the greatest platform for drift build. I know it has very little adjustability, and I didn't realize just how more "toylike" vs hobby-grade it was until I started building it.
With that said, here was my rationale:
- Cheap: $140, the whole project is about being able to have fun while being as cheap as possible
- Brand: I wanted a kit and Tamiya is known for them
- Parts Support (Or so I thought): Tamiya has comparatively better parts support in the Midwest USA than any other asian brand (Yokomo, Kyosho, 3Racing would all require overseas ordering)
- Parts interchangeability: Tamiya has a long history of sharing components between models and I love to tinker...

I ended up getting the Carrera RS for $140 from Tower.
Total Cost So Far: $140

I did a box stock build to start out, before I tried any drifting, as it was also my first touring car.
Unfortunately I did not take many pics during the build.

I used a junky old Traxxas Link receiver and Solar D771 servo just to get it running before purchasing a proper servo.

After testing it on it's maiden voyage, I came away with two conclusions:
- The stock servo saver is absolute garbage - the wheels could not re-center due to the servo saver
- Driving a stock touring car on a Tamiya silver can (ok it was torque-tuned) is painfully slow and boring. 
- There are no RC on road tracks in my area, so I figured it was time to transform it into a drifter :)


The first thing I did was remove the stock servo saver. I replaced it with a generic rigid plastic horn. Now it was actually drivable.
Cost: Free

I then placed a large Amazon order to start the transmogrification. It was at this point I realized how limited the parts selection of hop-ups for Tamiya kits is in the USA, especially in the Midwest.

- I ordered a new body: A Hpi 190mm Trueno Coupe (I would have preferred the more scale Yokomo Sunrise Levin, but I didn't think it was worth double the cost and wait time)
Cost: $26

- Paint for the body: Tamiya PS-23 Gunmetal, I decide I wanted to do a reverse-"panda" scheme with gunmetal body and silver accents since I had a half-empty can of PS-41 Bright Silver lying around. 
Cost: $8

- An "aggressive" Sport Tuned Tamiya 540
Cost: $21

- 2 Pairs of genuine T-Drifts, I wanted to start out right, even if the knock offs are comparable.
Cost: 2 x $9 = $18
- 1 pair HPI 6mm offset C90s in white, I chose them because I liked the mmore than other Hpi wheels and I wanted it to ship from within the USA, because shipping on any cooler JDM wheels was cost prohibitive.
Cost: $10

Being the cheapskate I am, I decided to use a pair of cool looking vintage Ofna wheels I found in the bargain bin of my LHS, which I had lying around for a year.

Total Cost So Far: $226

I quickly installed the motor. I had quite a team trying to mount the T-Drifts, I had throw the rims in the freezer, and the tires in mug full of boiling Keurig water  Lol

Mounting the body required some work. I had to flip the rear arms to get the wheelbase to line up and reverse the body mounting posts.

I ended up switching the Ofna 5 spokes to the rear, as it was already a handful for me to drive as a drifting a noob, and I read that a wider rear track increased oversteer, so I reversed that.

At this point (August 2015), I started masking the body, got half way done, then the project was thrown on a shelf for about 6 months because the school year began, only allowing me to work on it during breaks.

Reading from the forums, the main consensus I get is not to diff your rwd.

after MST rmx-s launch, I find that ball diffs are standard out of the box. Testing the car, feels very responsive and smooth in a drift.

Compared to my solid rear, which seems slightly less stable during drifts.

I decided to diff my team magic e4d. I find that it(handling wise) has slightly improved. IMO, I say diff the rear.

What do you all think? What's your experience on this ?

  DIFF pulley comes in 2 pieces?

Years ago when I got the front one way diff for my Sprint 2 (Hpi part #86042) the pulley got damaged in shipping. So now that I'm getting back into drifting I tried to save money by just buying a replacement pulley (Hpi part#85064) But I cannot figure out why they would make the pulley in 2 pieces? I've noticed some ball diff pulleys for other cars come the same way.

Just got back into rc after a very long hiatus. I have a drift project on board next but I've currently Been working on a lowrider. Almost done with the body. I'm a body tech by profession so I'm painting this one on the outside. Body is a mk1 vw golf. Chassis is an old team associated rc10 touring car that I modified extensively.
