What if WD40 spill on belt?
Posted by: BambooSwordBa - 01-08-2017, 03:00 PM - Forum: Help Section - Replies (7)

I plan to rebuild my Sakura D3 soon but the problem is the previous owner has managed to mess up pretty much every nut and bolt especially on the front and the rear bulk heads where 2 belts are connected. They either stuck or screwed in incorrectly. Even worse, almost all of them have stripped head.

I plan to use WD40 to get the stuck screws out but I'm concern about what if some of it spill on the belt.
Will WD40 cause any harm to the belt? How can I clean it off?

  Sakura d3 a arm to y arm
Posted by: _drift_garage - 01-08-2017, 02:24 PM - Forum: Countersteer - No Replies

Hello guys I'm posting about my Sakura d3 a arm to y arm conversation because I'm sure people still use the d3. This conversation was a long process about $130 to do this conversation the right way first I started with yokomo type c lower y arms then proceeded to active hobbie yokomo type c upper a arms now I'm on the final step and that is to stop the car from 3 wheeling it's when a wheel in the rear picks up and it rides on three wheel I have found the solution and it's a kit from 3racing it's called a rear camber mixing linkage it's for the d4 but anyway you have to put that in the front shock tower and that stops it from three wheeling because it moves one shock up and one shock down which make it level I have a video of a custom made one you can check out my instagram and see the process @_drift_garage and there is a picture of the setup i am shooting for with the parts from the d4 camber mixing linkage I hope this helps people who are using the d3 or wanting to do the same thing.

Does anyone make an engine soundbox that doesn't sound like owls having sex?

these sound boxes just don't cut it for me. a lot of people like them but I think they sound like crap and are highly annoying and I'm not the only one who feels this way. why does the rotary sound like a v8, and everything else sounds like someone over revving a lawn mower? even while driving it just portrays the sound of inconsistent, random revs. is that something you can fix in the settings or have they just not figured out how to make it better yet?

Almost a year ago i bought my first rc and its a scale crawler. Mid summer i decided its not a phase and im really loving it so since then Ive gone absolutely

nuts spending thousands in the rc hobby.   I now have 5 scale crawlers and 2 of them have just about everything upgraded with the best available parts. I

tinker with and drive them daily and i never thought my phone would be full of pictures of my toy trucks.  About a month ago i watched my first rc drift video

and the next week i spontaneously bought an hpi sprint 2 flux and some drift tires while picking up some paint at the shop. Ive had a blast with it and the

whole drifting thing so i decided i want a rwd and almost ordered the new rtr MST but decided i should ask around first.  I should be wanting a kit but im

not completely there yet so the mst being the only rtr ive really come across is why its at the top of my list but the more i see it looks to be a great buy. I

swear i dont like spending hundreds on a rig and spending several more hundreds swapping parts.  That is just necessary with those dang crawlers but

would i be happy with how the $400 version 2 mst comes? Ill post some pics of what i have been playing with and some of the bodies ive tried on the

sprint 2. I guess my main question is should i go with the new mst??????? Thanks

Hello everyone, a happy new year to all of you!
Working on my first drift build, finally found some time during the holidays. Got my power plant soldered up and did some cutting and painting and whatnot.
First ever thing I've soldered in my life. Need practice. It's a 9.5T sensored can, got it for cheap because apparently nobody buys anything besides 10.5 motors at my LHS.

No photos from the chassis build, because I bought it used.. actually thought about asking the seller to dissemble it for me, but I figured that was maybe pushing it too far. I love building!
This Castle MMP was also bought used, many years ago - and has distributed power in a Traxxas Stampede 4x4, turned Slash 4x4. Raised it up on a block of a harder type of foam. Put the reciever on the servo, forgot to think about heat from the servo - hopefully it won't be an issue.
[Image: JV2Qpib.jpg]1.6 CS, ready to go (sans pinion.. i stuck an 18T on one since).. I think we'll be good friends

  All new to me
Posted by: Leeroy33 - 01-01-2017, 05:27 PM - Forum: Introductions - No Replies

Hi people, I live in QLD, Australia.  Ive had a few off road rc cars before, but never a drift rc.  Just recently I picked up a old enRoute JXR, now Ive never been into drift but when this came up for $80 AU I couldn't resist? It is mostly complete apart from transmitter, receiver and belts. Problem is that the plastic front lower suspension arms have been cut and modified, it does seem to work alright but looks like it will fail fairly quick once me and my 6year old boy take it to the local car park for some fun. Can't seem to find any stock replacements, do any of the aluminium hop up parts fit universally. Any info in getting some better arms would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Lee

Gear MST XXX-D VIP RWD Conversion
Posted by: remz3 - 12-30-2016, 01:27 PM - Forum: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) - Replies (4)

Hey folks, I've been trying to find a thread to show some steps on how to convert a XXX-D VIP to RWD. There may be some other things that I may need to do and advice is welcome. I saw someone convert his and asked him, so there are steps that he did. I did some other steps as per other peoples advice.

Here we go:

1. Remove the  front diff and the front CVD shaft. Some also removed the casing where the diff resides in, but for now I left mine.

[Image: IMAG0560_zpsknxqoryy.jpg][Image: IMAG0549_zpsqek6s6dh.jpg][Image: IMAG0557_zpsw6svvv7i.jpg]

2. I am changing the stock steering rail to an aluminum curved steering rail (MST 210539).

3. I am also changing the front axles to MST 2WD Axles (MST 310049).

4. I am also installing a Gyro. I ordered the HPI Racing D-Box 2. (HPI 105409)

I will update this with more pictures but I hope this will help people who are looking for some guidance and as stated, please feel free to add more comments if I need to do anything else to make it a solid RWD chassis.

Ive posted this topic in another section, but this one seems more appropriate, so here it is.

Hey, so Im interested in starting RC drifting, and have been looking up some possible options to go with. One problem being, Im never sure if my carts have what I need to start properly, so I never go through with it.

Ive been looking into RWD more, and have realized I cant find any RTR RWD builds, which means I will need to put everything together. Next question being, how hard would it be to set up a whole RC drift car?

Ive come up with this cart, which is around my budget and seems to have everything I will need (apparently):

Should I change, add, or remove anything from the cart?

Hey guys so I'm new to this and I am looking at 1/10 complete drift cars and I want to interchange car bodies but use the same chassis is this possible or do I have to have a specific chassis for specific car bodies? For instance I've seen car bodies I like online but they say in the description "for specific car" Does that matter or should a 1/10 body fit on any 1/10 chassis? Thanks!

  R32 Drift missile
Posted by: XEONIT - 12-28-2016, 03:40 PM - Forum: Work-in-Progress - Replies (4)

Hi everyone
In this tread i would like to show my build of the R32 Drift missile.
Its started its live in 2013. It was terrible what happen to this body. Its even survive of flames from exploding battery. After 2 years of crasching every sunday, i buy it from my friend. This is how it was look like:

I only add a self made rear bumperless (i know, it terrible lol), to cover hole after cutting of bumper by last owner. I also put some stickers on hood and sides, to make more "unloved" XD The over fenders, not made by me, are cuted out of another R32 body. Smart, and simple

It suposed to be a display body, on dummy chassis, and it lay in the shed for some months. After i started to convert my D3 into RWD, it turns out, that i cant use my EVO X anymore, because it wont fit the track base. So i took the Skyline, put it on chassis, and i think, that now this will be my primary body. So, first thing, engine. I found Demi Works RB26 in scrap, and i put it into body (it still need to be painted, my compressor in sheed is broken :( ) It fit nice, i think :P

Next was sometnig on rear. I put the bumperless into garbage, and i mount factory diffuser from D3. It filled it up nicely, but it looks too poor XD
After playing in Pixel Car Racer (i rrecomend this game for all, who cant imagine details on their bodies, like wheels, paint, and bodykits, theres even a Pandem kit, witch can be put on any car)  I decide to make an 6666 wing for it. Some pics from google, some styren, some time, and i make this:

It was first prototype, but it evolve into this

I know, its not perfeckt copy, but its make in style of RB wing. I think that it fits nice here  ^^

Thats how it looks now. Yesterday i add splitter on front, to balance look of that massive wing on rear. Its only need to be painted up. Tommor i will add updated pics, and i hope, that i will finaly paint the engine bay

I take of the overfenders, but just for upgrade them :D
Comment, love, hate, and keep drifting fun  ^^

(yet another) Sakura D3 | XEONIT
Posted by: XEONIT - 12-28-2016, 02:55 PM - Forum: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) - Replies (1)

Hi guys
In this tread i would like to show my D3 RWD build.
i started it about month ago, and i think its now finished. The reason why i change it to RWD was after last ride, when i realized, that CS is rather boring, and i give a challange to myself - build something from scrap :P (thats why i used D3, instead of buing D4).

First i mount MST arms

2nd mod - steering.
Simple, but not simple. When i biuld it on first time, i realized that 3Racing alloy steering system is enought for max steer angle. But it was locking. So i add carbon extensions (self made), and then it started to work fine. Then i add one more adjuster in the middle, so i can adjust Ackerman and toe.

The big problem for me was the steering angle. Tire was hitting the shock. But, MST arms are cool, and i add some spacers into it, put FR-F tire, and that problem was solved.
Then i make uppers using a Tamiya adjusters (they havent any play, so everything is thick)

Thats how it looks on front

After some settings, i ended up, with almost 90 degree angle :D

First run was rather good, nothing has broke, and come off, i even took one courner well (without gyro, im still wainting for it). Ive started to learning driving without gyro, but even if i can "drift", or rather sliding in my friend's BMW, this is almost impossible for me lol
So, now i get to work on body for it. It will be in another post, i think in WIP section

Comment, tell me some advice, what should i change. Its my very first RWD chassis, and im new in this, so i dont know everything. It hink that my modss are done well, and my cute, Pinky D3 will fly on track  XD
Keep drifting fun  ^^

I've changed the settings in the program card and reset it a few times. Nothing seems to work.. is this a problem others have had.? It kinda sucks having no reverse lol. Also every time I turn the car on now (the last few days, no changes made at that point) it starts running in reverse, blip the throttle to stop it and let the gyro center, and car drives fine minus the reverse.. please help

I want to turn up the cs ratio to around 1.8 for my sakura but i dont know how to make the cs ratio higher, i changed my cs ratio on my mst before with the included pulley and belt. For the front you put a smaller pulley and belt right , for the back i am not to sure, do you put a bigger pulley and a bigger belt or smaller ones. But is it recommended to turn the the ratio that high for my sakura ? I am still using the stock steering angle for my sakura. Thanks.
