RE: Yokomo D-MAX - GenkiRF - 11-17-2012

I really considered one of these, but in the end decided against it. I've always liked shaft cars, and will probably pick up a doripake/zeon in the near future lol. Will be interested to hear your thoughts on this though, from what I've seen/read it's a good car. The battery layout seemed to be what prevented it from really taking off.

it really is a great car, the only downfall is the slipper clutch and saddle pack, though its a bit inconvenient, they both can be overcome easily. cheap way is to just lock the slipper, or get the KAZAMA spur gear adapter, and saddle packs cost roughly the same as any other lipo generally.

i would love to keep this chassis but i only intended to buy this to have fun building it and modifying it.
if anyone is interested, please pm me. this package will surely be a deal not to pass up!

back on topic, i just finished the steering, just needs to be aligned:

RE: Yokomo D-MAX - antinnous - 11-19-2012

no longer going to do the type c conversion, im pretty much done with this chassis. heres a quick display of how i did the steering

DMAX HIGH ANGLE STEERING WRITE UP / DIY
parts needed:
servo mount spacers
+10 extended arm blocks

mount the servo spacers perpendicular to chassis center line, screw tightly and super glue to secure position.

mount +10 extended arm block with the writing upwards, and secure with a nut. skew the block as if it were to look like "toe in". by adjusting this angle you can adjust your Ackerman.

shave c-hubs to allow angle, if type c you can ignore this step.
either type b or c, you will need to shorten the upright and drill new holes for the ball connector.

roughly 52-54* on here with the team suzuki cvd's. other cvd's will allow more angle. note: wheels in pics are 9mm offset, so +9 or greater if you want to clear dampers. alternatives would to have lower profile damper mounts, lower steering EPA, or drill new holes for a further inward position.
