My New D4 Rwd

27 Replies, 7484 Views

Fixed the springs. Used a longer rod end that came with the rwd kit. Shaved down the rod end by 2mm. Shocks sit approximately 70mm from end to end.

Front springs are medium. Rear are soft. Currently running with 45cst oil in front and back.

I had to use some spare rod ends for the rear. Shaved it down so all shocks are the same height

Here is the pic of the team powers xps sport v2. Installed also the 10.5t motor. It comes with a program card however it doesn't allow you to change advanced options.

I borrowed the led program card and was able to adjust the when the turbo will kick in.

Currently leaving it at 15000rpm. Drag brakes at 40.
Punch 4. 30deg timing.

Still testing spring locations and ride height.

Will probably change the battery mount position soon. Ordered a custom battery mount for standard lipo.

Hopefully will get it this weekend.

My mono shock and upper arm just came in today. Will test them out in the track tomorrow. Over all the front now feels too stiff.
How do I make it softer ? I'm already on my softest springs. Higher shock position or lower ? Can't remember by physics.

Installed the upper arms.

Made some adjustments to my gears.
FDR 12.2 . A little sticky on tile surface. Hopefully just nice on the epoxy surface.

My new body. Killerbody BRZ. Lighting makes it look lighter. Comes with light fixtures. Overall, love the details on the body. Still haven't glued on the magnets yet.

Removed the mono shock after testing it. Car became too grippy. Back to regular shocks.
Reduced some weights of the car rear.

Messing with some settings. Preparing for my first comp. Handling of car still little odd. Find the car still pulling back straight in midst of a drift.

Hardened front springs. Going on mediums. Adjusted rear camber to 0. Front camber at 5 degs.

Running new tires set for comp. Restricted to yokomo drz.

Will be taking part in first comp. Any advise?

Here is a video of my car.

After a grueling day. Competition is over. For my first time in a competition, I guess my car needs lots more work.

Here are the settings for my car.

Surface: epoxy
Front camber 4 degs.
Rear camber 1 degs
Front spring : medium
Rear spring : soft
Ride height : high
Ride height after body shell
Front : about 8mm
Read : about 5mm
Weight at front upper arms 4g each
Weight at rear lower arm 4g each.

Stability was main issue. Will have to learn more next time round.

Oh, judges were Bagi himself and Ken Ong from Singapore.

Here a clip of Bagi's car having fun. Enjoy

This is what I got this week. Rear gear for the d4. Btw if you are getting this. You need a solid diff gear. This doesn't fit by itself. Learnt the hard way. Not a cheap investment.

Internal ratio is 1.9. it wasn't easy to install either. Had to Install the diffs before putting the gears in.

Seems much faster after the install. Will need to test it out with some faster cars to see how it fairs.

Balanced my car out a bit more. Weights added for some speed. 14g on each rear arm. 10g on front arms each.

Weight ratio is about 65:35 rear to front.

I also changed my FDR to 7.94. lowered the EPA TH settings to about 80℅. The car flies on epoxy surfaces!!! Still on the yokomo drc tires.

Never get a china d4 oem steering system for your car. total waste of money.

First weighting of car. Will balance this out once the weights come in.

Will try to achieve 25/75 ratio f/r.

Looks like it is quite impossible to do a 25:75 f/r weight distribution without getting over weight in the rear at 1100grams. The maximum I got was 29:71[emoji19]

Anyway car drives fine at that ratio. I decided to lighten it because it was going too fast around the track.[emoji1] Have removed most of the weights around the car. Remaining total 8 grams in the rear.

Stole my absorbers from the team magic. Fitted it on the rear. Since my setup has loads of body roll, hopefully this will make my car faster through corners. The rear tyres stay flat when the chassis rolls. Was considering another system but since this seems to work at home will need to see how it performs on the track. Hopefully this will compensate the loss of using weights.

Will test this setup in the track tomorrow.
