Candy red FRS

Body: Hpi FRS
Paint: tamiya ps 37 translucent red, tamiya ps 48 metallic silver, pactra black backing

Started doing the masking of the body and taped some areas on the outside where the protected filmed lifted after I cut the lexan. Taping the out side area where the film lifted will get me into paint issues when you see the pictures.

And here's my issue I need to fix. Didn't realize one of the tape folded inside the body. I etched of edges so I can match the paint better later when I get some more paint.

Waiting for accessories to come in so I can post better pictures. Things left to do: fix paint screw up, wait for correct offset wheels to come in, install some decals, and install exhaust and do panel lines.

Have yokomo light buckets on the way as I hate the look of hpi light buckets, but if I can't get it to work I'll figure something out to make hpi buckets look better.

Also anyone have any tips on touching up translucent paints?
Thats amazing! Gleaming paint ftw!

If i could get hold of those paints i would definitely go for candy red as its my favourite!

Just got delivery of fastrax metallic graphite tho today. I think it will look ace on the gt86 being dark!

Great job tho despite the masking mishap man! Update with the details!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I love the color for sure, I didn't know how it would turn out until I finished. I had 3 other colors in mind and I'm glad I chose this. I'm probably gonna keep using translucent paint from now on, just love how it pops under bright light
very sick!!!!

my only suggestion and its a small one, mask the outside of the body trims and respray the black outside. looks more realistic Smile

I think it will also make it alot better too since I think I made the window trim line too thin. Is there a certain paint to use when painting outside the body? The black I have now is pactra black backing and I think I might have a tamiya ps-5 with a little bit left.
i use krylon fusion beleive it or not. holds up pretty well

this was the first I did. I had a few runs in the transparent coat. But it still came out nice.

I love your black roof though.

I am doing a Rocket bunny 86 when it arrives... colours are a hard choice.
Your 86 was one of inspiration for the color Russ, I was wanting it a lil darker. Found out it looks different when its under light and no light. I feel your pain with the paint runs as my rear bumper is not consistant in color. I was rushing it as I was running out of paint. I was actually wanting to do a carbon roof with carpet tape, but lines between each tape strip changed my mind.

That's interesting, I'll keep that in mind as I have a can of krylon also.

Both of these FRS' are great examples of just great color choice and simple execution. I love it!

And I did a carbon roof on my D-Like FRS awhile ago using a big carbon sticker (1 piece) from Kawada that I ordered on Banzai! I can send you a link if you're interested.
