I put some shims under the steering assembly on the steering post. I used 5mmx0.1mm to get a thickness of 0.5mm and it tightened it up a lot. To get rid of more slop the ball cups they use need to be replaced or an old trick is to use 1mm thick piece of fuel tubing under the cup to tighten them up.
hey guys i couldn't find anything on this but if its been covered before i apologize. i wanted some advise on spur/pinion gear set ups. i just ordered the yokomo 10.5t and esc combo( http://banzaihobby.com/Yokomo-BL-R3105G ) along with a whole mess of other stuff and ill be doing an upper arm setup for the front suspension. when i was looking at it i realized that the spur gear was pretty damn close to the shock tower and my mounting spot for my upper arms. i wanted to see what a good gearing setup would be and if at all possible drop the spur gear size to allow more room for for the suspension. i was trying to figure it out by using this guide( http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/t...kGears.htm ) but i have no idea what im doing.
these will be the arms ill be using...or at least trying to use. ill post WIP as soon as everything comes in.

So I did some research and it says to run a 70t spur and a 25t pinion. that seems really small to me, is that correct for the d3?

Seems correct. Our Stock spur is 80t and 19tpinion(?).
Forgot the actual pinion t value is

thats what theyre recommending for a yokomo dp chassis. a D3 is gonna be totally different. if your running the stock pulleys for 2.14 cs on the D3 with a 70t and 25t your fdr is gonna be at 3.8. with the stock 80t and 18t its 6.1. thats a big difference. im not an expert on the subject but im guessing thats not a good fdr for the D3.
It all depends on what motor you run. If your using a 21.5t then the 70t spur 25t pinion would be good but if your using a 13.5t or lower then stick to the stock 80t spur with 18t/19t/20t pinion.
thanks guys kind of figured that as 90% of the d3 i see are still running stock spur gear setups.

how did you figure this out? so iv changed all the pulleys out except front and back spool gears and im at 2.08cs, i think (38/14 14/14 23/30) and ill be running the yokomo 10.5t motor. is there anyway to maintain roughly the same fdr and drop the spur gear size. like if i drop both spur and pinion or if i drop spur and raise pinion.
i just used a cs calculator app on my phone. it dosnt have an input for motor size though but i think it assumes we all use 10.5.
you can go to a 78 spur and it wont change the fdr much.

What app do you use? I've got one but it doesn't have input for spur or pinion.
@Moletron use the calculator that someone posted above in thir post
