I'm waiting for the carbon chassis and buying the hop ups for that. also some advice that I have gotten from other peoples builds is get yourself a 3mm tapping bit out of a tap and die set and run that into all the screw holes first with some light oil that way the holes don't heat up and get threaded when you screw the screws in.

Its all good bud, I though it was user error on the Apple but i cant download it on my Lappy running windows either.. It's frustrating to say the least as i want to order some stuff so the mods may begin.

I'm still waiting for the chassis, i bought it local second hand for a great price. The seller was great and really helpful. At one stage i was going to buy new but for the price he was asking i couldn't let it pass. Like you he mentioned that it was a pain seating screws. When i get new diff housings for my crawlers i run a tap through them first, so i figured i'd just do the same with the D3. Luckily i'll be straight onto the mods (if the chassis is in good shape).

Yeh ill grab some stuff for it Mainly looking at Pulleys and a oneway for now and steering (wide angle cvd + steering rack once released) or i'll fab something up for the steering. I'm keen on the chub delete mod with the KPI mod also. i'll see what i can do with stock parts first but if a no go i'll start hunting some parts. i'll keep an eye out on what the carbon chassis comes up like also. I just hope the CF chassis has a few battery mounting options. Worse comes to worse i'll cad something up and have it cut but id rather buy already done as the price is awesome.

I'm going to jump on the lathe now and cut a milo tin up for my crappy r2 hobbies s13 body gotta have a Stainless exhaust... lol Man it looks like Stevie Wonder lined up the graphics on it:wtf:

I'm working on some form of inboard-pushrod system, but it's in its early stages...

Did you eventually get the manual downloaded?

Dorvack.

I liked how you did the chub mod it came out very clean. I gave up on the manual as i tried to download it on two different comps with no success. The kit i purchased should arrive with a manual "fingers crossed" although once its in front of me i should be ok.

I was wondering about the shock clearance as it seems to be the issue with a lot of the FM chassis's and wide angle cvd's. I think your onto something with the cantilever setup as it will free up some more play area for the steering for sure.

Still an enjoyable project chassis though.

Dorvack.

My chassis arrived yesterday:=): I now see what you mean regarding the clearance issues. I'm going to have to rebuild a fair bit of it. The front shocks are leaking from around the top and the steering is ridiculously tight... Probably a rushed build but all in all in good shape and a great bit of kit.

I'll order parts needed to repair the funky bits then start on the mods.
I downloaded it and re-upped on 4Shared here is a link D3 manual

Thanks pickled, I actually could download it. I suk on the comps probably was myself at fault with the other attempts... The Kit i bought came with a manual however it soaked up what was left in the front shocks.

lol that sucks so now your paper manual is see through like baking paper. Did you get your kit off eBay? was it the one with broken front belt and damaged battery box?

lol Yeh buddy thats the one $52 slight crack on battery stay one missing cs M3 and one stripped cs m3 and he threw in new belts and spur cover. Its looks as though its barely been used, so i couldn't pass it up! Was a great seller to deal with too.

It has its issues but really it is in great shape and is a good start for project D.

Keep us updated on the build. I'm looking forward to seeing a third person's mods for this chassis.

Dorvack.

Thanks Dorvack i'll strip it all down and have a good look at whats going on.

I'll keep you guys updated on what i come with. I just wish i had the knowledge of parts available like yourself and pickled... It saves a heap of time on fabricating stuff up. I dont mind making stuff but when you look at it from the point of finding a part thats close and modifying it for $10 it beats making from scratch hands down.
Hey I get my knowledge from throwing questions out there and seeing if someone else has a solution to what ever it is I can't work out? And trawling through available hop ups on rcMart for a part that looks like it might work. But as for modifying parts you got to make do with what you have sometimes and find a way to make it work lol.

that chassis had been on ebay three times he reduced the price down from $90, It was from Australia I think? I was thinkin about it too lol I asked him why he wouldn't fix it when the tub only costs 15 bucks and you can get the plastic bulkheads now to so a complete rebuild won't cost that much
More hop ups available at 3racing
So has anyone got the graphite chassis yet and have you put it together yet? I know the front bearing cover hasn't been released yet but just wondering? I am ordering mine this week along with most of the alloy suspension components. I will hopefully get the parts this side of Christmas but you never know at this time of year! Any way did you guys know that the graphite chassis a has longitudinal battery mount if you don't want to purchase the transverse kit? But you'll need a low profile servo!
