I have been looking through threads about this chassis, and the more I do and read prices for upgrades I really wish I didn't spend money upgrading my HPI and bought one of these instead lol. I can not wait to try one of these out, I am so jealous of you guys with them!

Yeah I like mine and over an HPI I would deffinatly take a d3, sorry. But I we're to go back I think I would have bought a different chassis. Maybe an MST or a Yokomo just because i really dislike the pink and all the sharp points. Also your pretty much limited to 3racing or a few ranom 3 party company's for hop ups where the Yokomo has endless possibilitys. IMO

This is a fantastic response, I do not like the silver or pink and would probably have to paint the pink to be ok with it. It will be a while before I decide on a second chassis, and MST is also a strong contender for it. I have not looked at the Yokomo to much yet.

I sorta do like the pink. Kinda growing on me but I guess I can't contribute as I only had the pink only for week or so

How do y'all not like the pink?
Quick question, Im building my d3 basically from scratch, and now im up to ordering my pulleys and all that.

What pulleys/ratios have you guys found perform best? I read alot of people complaing about the stock CS ratio is to difficult to drive... Id like to think im a pretty decent driver so "difficulty" due to being more advanced to drive is not the worry. I just dont want to build this and have it a complete uphill battle because the CS ratio is totally whacked out of the gate. (this is my first CS car so Id like it to be built properly once)

I really appreciate the help, and im sure CS ratios are largely a personal pref but id love to hear some thoughts about it.

Thanks dudes!

Idk just not my jams I guess. I de-abodized all the pink and bought silver or black for the rest. I like it simple and clean

i actually really like the stock CS ratio even though im slightly under it right now (2.08) only because i swap all the pulleys to a bigger tooth to get rid of all the slop. if i can get the crazy turning angles im hoping for i actually plan to kick it up higher, maybe even 3.00 but we will see once my parts come in.
Stock works great. Slow action gets alot of angle. Now high speed is tricky but fun.

Here is what I did: one 27T and a 15T from my old HPI sprint.
Simply using the slight natural tension from these pulleys, allows them to remain in place and thus reducing the cost of having to buy that 20$ Aluminum Rear Bulkhead Bearing Housing Ver. 2.
This way the belt is super responsive and doesn't skip at all.

I strongly disagree with this post.
Besides the chassis upgrades themselves, you can adapt a lot of MST/Yokomo parts on the D3.
I'm currently running DIB Y arms with lots of Active Hobby goodies and 3.45CS.
You just got to be creative and do your homework when buying parts.
